An amazing festive week at Hammond School
This week our children have been really getting into the festive spirit with some amazing Christmas performances.
Children in years 5 and 6 joined forces for a production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves which took to the stage for four performances. The first performance on Tuesday afternoon was staged specially for pupils of Lightwater Village School’s Year 2. Wednesday was a busy day with both a matinee and evening performance before another show ended the run on Thursday evening.
Both year groups enjoyed roles as narrators, singers and dancers, and alongside the characters in the classic tale such as Snow White herself (Cecile Poulain), the Queen (Hannah Webb) and Prince (Max Powick), the three-act show had plenty of audience participation.
“The entire cast worked really hard during rehearsals to make sure the shows were brilliant for their audiences. Everyone enjoyed themselves with some much-deserved fun as we approach the Christmas holidays,” said head teacher of both schools, Sarah Evans.
Meanwhile this week our year 3 and 4 pupils have enjoyed leading Carol Concerts at All Saints Church in Lightwater. Year 3 pupils narrated and Year 4 pupils acted out the Nativity story while leading the singing of some lovely festive songs and carols.
This week our school choir was broadcast on BBC Radio Surrey performing a rendition of 'Once in Royal David's City'. There will be another opportunity to hear it on Tuesday 19th December at 8:25am (104 and 104.6FM). You can hear the broadcast here.
