Top Awards for Glyn
31 students from Years 9 and 10 sat this year’s Intermediate Maths Challenge on Thursday 1 February, with 27 students receiving either a Gold, Silver or Bronze Certificate.
Over 200,000 students from across the UK sat the paper, with only the top 7% receiving a Gold award, the next 13% a Silver, and the next 20% a Bronze. This year, Glyn achieved 4 Gold, 6 Silver and 17 Bronze awards.
Adam Hunt (10O), Leon Leonard (10O), Owen Mackenzie (9C) and Hyunggyu Kim (8T) all achieved Gold Certificates, with Adam and Leon qualifying for the next round (the Pink Kangaroo for Year 10 students), and Owen qualifying for the Year 9 Kangaroo stage (Grey Kangaroo). Very impressively, Hyunggyu Kim (pictured) was one of the 500 students (out of 200,000) nationwide who had some of the highest possible marks, enabling him to qualify for the Intermediate Maths Olympiad.
Silver certificates were achieved by Callum Dyer (10A), James Goldsmith (10A), Henry Broome (9M), Manujan Manivannan (9SB), Charlie Prime (9D) and Elliot Roberts (9D), with Henry and Manujan also qualifying for the Year 9 Kangaroo stage (Grey Kangaroo).
Bronze certificates were achieved by Rowan Halls (10B), Harry Benton (10B), James Bowcott (10O), Benjamin Collins (10M), Luke Tayler (10M), William Baker (10O), Henry Skilton (10O), Thaaruga Manoharan (10D), Thomas Stirling (10A), Jafer Ali (9A), Reuben Gabb (9SB), Alastair Sidlin (9O), Dan Kirby (9T), Jack Buckley (9SB), Lucas Parkinson (9C), Oliver Richmond (9B) and Thomas Lyon (9T).
