Book Week

Book Week has been a feast of opportunity for the children, staff and families to enjoy their love of reading. Every day staff have shared their favourite stories and poems, including ones from their own childhood, to inspire the children and show that we all still love a good read. 

The children took part in a poetry recital, each performing their favourite poem to their peers and thoroughly enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day as their favourite characters. The special (and snowy) day ended with parents and grandparent’s coming into school to share a story with small groups.  Mrs Sargent who organised the week said ‘’All the children have had a great Book Week, it was amazing to see how confidently the children recited their poetry and we have all loved listening to other peoples favourite stories.’’ Miss Newton Head teacher said ‘’We would like to thank the Friends of Forge Wood and families for their support with all the activities throughout the week, we have raised lots of money for new books through the book fair and bake sal
