Science Fair Grand Final

On Wednesday 7th February, 15 scientists from Cordwalles Junior School embarked on a day journey to the University of Surrey in Guildford.

Arriving at the University of Surrey we did get a little lost (it is a huge campus!) but soon found our way to the Great Hall! Upon arrival, hundreds of other enthusiastic children from the GLF family met us. Everyone frantically started to put up their displays and experiments. We listened to Professor Jim Al-Khalili about fascinating facts about space. We then had lots of time to go around the hall, experiencing science in the ‘real world’ through visiting stands by very well-known scientific establishments like Pfizer, University of Kent, STEM Sussex, The Big Bang Fair etc.

In the afternoon we heard from Jo Fox from Space Fund and she introduced Neo, a robot to us! Neo can talk, walk, brush its ‘teeth’ and dance Gangnam Style!

Overall, it was an extraordinary day with a group of extraordinary children. Behaviour was tip-top and the children were true ambassadors for our federation
