Year 4 in the great outdoors!
Year 4 had a fantastic first residential at High Ashurst at the start of June. Despite a few showers when we arrived, the weather held out for us and it was wonderful being in the great outdoors. From orienteering and fire building to rock climbing and high ropes, the children had to dig deep and challenge themselves. It made us immensely proud to see the children supporting and encouraging each other and working together to navigate maps and start fires using a flint. There were a few nerves up on the high ropes (mostly from the teachers!), but these new skills were achieved with plenty of resilience and determination. We toasted marshmallows and sang songs around the campfire in the evening, before spending the night in teepees. It was a brilliant trip and huge thanks to all of the staff who volunteered: Mrs MacBrayne, Miss Fulbrook, Mrs Buckley, Miss Peach, Miss Chapman, Miss King, Mrs Lambert, Miss Trimmer, Mr Skelton and Mrs Williamson.
