Visit from author Graham Scott

We were delighted to welcome the author Graham Scott to Glyn School on Friday 15 June.

During the morning, Graham gave a talk for Mr Olsen’s  Year 8 English class during which the students submitted a piece of creative writing which the author helped judge; it was not easy to choose between them, such was the high standard of writing! Prizes were provided by the PSA.

The second session took place in the Library at lunchtime and was attended by members of the LRC Book Activity Club. At both sessions, Graham talked about his book    ‘Banished to the Forest’ and how he came to write it. The students were fascinated by Graham’s anecdotes, ranging from travels through Africa on a motorbike to working in a forest and learning about trees. Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and to purchase a copy of the book which Graham signed for them.

It was a very exciting and inspiring day and we are hoping that Graham will visit us again in the near future.

I would like to thank the Glyn PSA for their ongoing support of the Library. Their generosity in funding this visit by an author is greatly appreciated.
