Wimbledon Ball Boys
It gives me great pleasure to celebrate the success of our Year 9 and Year 10 students who were Ball Boys at The Championships, Wimbledon.
Nine students were selected to take part, which is the highest number of students the school has ever had taking part. The success rate is due to the commitment and dedication from the students, having given up every lunchtime to practice, attended training sessions on Thursdays after school since September and trained every week since January at the All England Lawn Tennis Club.
I was lucky enough to attend The Championships and was extremely proud watching our students in action; they did fantastically well and the experience will be a fond memory for them.
Well done, boys! You have been an absolute credit to yourselves and to the school and we are all extremely proud of your achievements. Thank you also to the parents and carers of the students for their support with the programme and motivation given to the boys.
Reflecting on their experience, a number of students have shared some words about their time at The Championships.
Elliott Roberts (9D): "It was a fantastic experience, worth all of the training and effort and something I will never forget.”
Nathan Baptiste (10A): “The atmosphere was unbelievable; what an amazing occasion to be a part of.”
