Message from Ally Sherrick

Hi everyone

Ally Sherrick here. I hope you’re all looking forward to the end of term? Not long to go now!

I just wanted to write and tell you how much I’ve enjoyed meeting you all on my visits to Cordwalles this year, especially for World Book Day when I got to see all your amazing costumes and to judge the fantastic book-in-a-box competition. What a creative lot you are!

I also really enjoyed coming into classes to run the workshops on heroes and villains and to see your paper-plate characters taking shape. I hope some of you went on to write stories about what you came up with afterwards?

I also loved having the chance to judge the design a book cover competition in celebration of the launch of my latest book, The Buried Crown. Congratulations again to the winners and runners-up and to everyone who entered their fantastic designs. It was so difficult choosing – I’d like to have given all the entries a prize!

I hope you’re all planning to get stuck in to reading a good book – or better still books – during the summer break. There are so many great ones out there at the moment. I’m sure with a bit of help from your class Book Champions you’ll be able to find something you like, particularly when you have such a brilliant and well-stocked school library too.

I look forward to seeing many of you again next term, and good luck to everyone in Year 6 as you leave Cordwalles to start at your new schools.

And don’t forget – books give you wings, so keep on reading!

Love

Ally
