Pine Ridge School Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to update you regarding the current school closure at Pine Ridge. It was with much regret that the decision was made to close the school today, but the safety and well-being of our pupils and staff is always our number one priority.

Specialists have now advised us that, amongst the usual harmless spiders found near woodland at this time of year, a small number of false widow spiders have been found in an outdoor area of the school site, confirming our suspicions. This will be treated immediately. I want to reassure all members of our community that these are precautionary measures and we can now take swift action to remove them for the continuing safety and well-being of pupils, staff and all site users.

We have been advised that the treatment plan, which will start immediately, will mean we should be able to reopen tomorrow (Friday 12th October). We plan to open at 10am, to allow the site to be checked thoroughly and signed off as safe. We understand the impact that any school closure may have and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause you.

A further update will be sent out tomorrow by 9am, so that you are kept informed of all developments. We will also post the same updates on our website and on Facebook.

Thank you for your understanding at this time; your support and patience is much appreciated.

Yours sincerely,

Claire-Louise West
