The Lord Lieutenant Cadet of the Year for Samantha Foster

I was delighted to hear that Mr Duffield received a message from Michael More-Molyneaux, HM Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, to advise him that Samantha Foster 12C1 has been chosen by the Girl Guides to be The Lord Lieutenant Cadet of the Year for 2018/19.

On 31 October, Samantha was invited to Loseley House near Guildford where she and four other volunteers from Surrey youth groups, including Girl Guiding, The Scout Association and Army Cadets, were presented with Lord Lieutenant sashes. The sashes are passed on each year from previous cadets whose year in the role has come to an end.

A Lieutenant Cadet has the honour of serving the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey for a year in events such as HM the Queen’s award ceremonies. Already, Samantha has met the Duke of Kent and the Duchess of Gloucester.

Samantha has been a part of Girl Guiding for 10 years, starting in the Brownies when she was seven years old. She now serves as a Young Leader for Brownies and tells us “ I had the privilege to be nominated by my Unit Leader to be a Lord Lieutenant Cadet. I am looking forward to the year ahead and am grateful for this opportunity.”

Congratulations to Samantha on this very prestigious honour.
