'Choose Respect' Anti-Bullying Week
During the week of the 12th November 2018, Lime Tree Primary School alongside thousands of other schools throughout the United Kingdom united with the Anti-Bullying Alliance to take a stand against bullying. This year's theme was 'Choose Respect' and as a school we took part in a range of activities and projects throughout the week to reinforce and embed anti-bullying practices.
We started the week with an odd socks day, inspired by the band 'Andy and the Odd Socks'. It was an opportunity for the children and staff to express themselves and their individuality , whilst raising awareness for Anti-Bullying Week. We also took part in exciting competition organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance and Andy and the Odd Socks, to share a photo or video that best captured how Lime Tree participated in Odd Socks Day 2018. Our winning entry can now be found on our school twitter (@limetreeredhill), and we are waiting to find out who the three winning schools are!
Throughout the week the children also took part in a variety of activities and events linked to the theme 'Choose Respect' and our whole school book 'Only One You'. Each class showed great creativity, individuality and focus in designing a whole class display linked to a quote from the story and a school value. It was fantastic to see the children taking such pride in their artwork, and they truly enjoyed showing it off on Friday after school! If you would like to see the children's artwork, the boards will be kept in the school library for the coming weeks. The children have also been busy decorating pebbles, linked to 'Only One You', for a future whole school art project - more information to follow.
On Thursday and Friday we took part in drama workshop organised by West End in Schools, which encouraged the children to reflect on what respect means to them, and how they can show it to others. The children demonstrated great responsibility and courage, taking part in a variety of acting activities.
Thank you to everybody who took part in Anti-Bullying Week, and for your continued support! We look forward to revealing the winning schools in the Andy and the Odd Socks twitter competition, and also our whole school 'Only One You' pebble project.
