Our schools have been celebrating after the class of 2023 achieved some outstanding A Level and BTEC results.
At Glyn School, 20 per cent of students received A* to A grades and 46 per cent A* to B, while 70 per cent achieved A* to C, and 33 per cent of BTEC students obtained a Distinction or Distinction*. Five students received all A*s and 20 all A grades, with many going onto study at prestigious universities across the country.
Among the school’s high-fliers were Head Girl Lottie Benton, who attained three As and will take up a place at Leeds after a gap year; Head Boy Selaka Adikari Mudiyanselage, who was awarded A*AA and is going to study Mechanical Engineering at Bath; and Sam Melrose, with A*A*A*, who will read History at Nottingham.
“We are incredibly proud of all of our Year 13 students today and the results they have achieved,” said Head of School Jo Garrod.
“These outcomes reflect the hard work, determination and resilience demonstrated by our students. The results are also a reflection of our dedicated educators who continuously inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential.
"We congratulate the Class of 2023 and wish them well as they move to their next step along their journey.”
At Rosebery School, 33 per cent of A Level entries were graded A* or A, while 67 per cent were A* to B, and 83 per cent were A* to C. An impressive 30 girls attained A*s and As in all of their subjects, with seven receiving straight A*s.
“These results are almost in line with those in 2022 and are far higher than the results achieved in 2019, which, given the expected grade deflation, demonstrates how brilliantly this cohort has done,” said Head of School David Lach.
“They have received a stellar set of A Level results, and we are delighted that their hard work, dedication and determination have seen them achieve the grades they richly deserve.
“We could not be prouder of the Class of 2023. We always knew they were a special and talented cohort, and we are so pleased that, despite the context of national uncertainty, they have been able to achieve such fantastic results – well done, girls!”
The Beacon also saw impressive results, where the school’s high achievers included Louise Cushion, whose A*, A and B grades secured her a place to study Economics at Southampton; Taylor Wallbank who attained AAB and will read Law at Reading; Rachel Zurich with A* for Textiles; and Alyssa Boyce (ABB) who is heading to Winchester to study Social Work.
“I am extremely proud to have shared the achievements of our students today, after all their effort and commitment over the past seven years,” said Head of School James Grant Duff.
“I am delighted that they have attained excellent results, which will enable them to make the next step in their futures.”
