Tennis Joy for Manor Primary Pupils as Tim Henman Foundation Donates Rackets
BackThis Christmas, the children at Manor Primary School in Didcot received a unique and exciting gift that will stay with them for years to come. Thanks to the generosity of the Tim Henman Foundation, every pupil was presented with their very own tennis racket, opening the door to new opportunities and a lifelong love of sport.
The Tim Henman Foundation, founded by British tennis legend Tim Henman, is dedicated to creating access to opportunities for children and young people, particularly in education and sport. The Foundation’s mission is to inspire and support disadvantaged children to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
To complement this incredible donation, Manor Primary has been supported by the GLF Schools’ Foundation, in partnership with the Tim Henman Foundation, over the last few years, to ensure that every child receives a tennis lesson each week. These lessons, taught by trained instructors, aim to build confidence, improve physical fitness, and teach valuable life skills such as teamwork and perseverance.
Mrs. Nicola Roberts, Headteacher at Manor Primary, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the Foundation’s support. “This initiative is transformative. Tennis is often seen as a sport that requires significant resources, but thanks to the Tim Henman Foundation, every single one of our pupils now has the opportunity to play, learn, and grow. We’re thrilled to integrate tennis into our school curriculum and excited to see the positive impact it will have on our children.”
With rackets in hand and a renewed sense of excitement, the pupils at Manor Primary are set to make 2025 a year to remember, both on and off the court. With the support of the Tim Henman Foundation, it’s clear that the benefits of this initiative will extend far beyond the tennis court, shaping brighter futures for every child involved.
