Warm welcome for new outdoor classroom at Surrey school

A new outdoor classroom, perfect for coping with heat waves, has been opened at Lime Tree Primary School and Nursery in Merstham. 

Two years of fundraising by the Friends of Lime Tree have allowed the school to finally officially open the new classroom this summer. The opening ceremony saw pupils and staff watch the ribbon being cut by the Head Girl and Head Boy. 

Emma Skipper, Headteacher, Lime Tree Primary School and Nursery, said: “The children are so excited about their new classroom; it’s perfect for the weather we’ve all been experiencing. You could say it’s ‘heatwave-proof’ and allows the children to learn outdoors, in the shade.

This is a considerable investment, but we really think it will pay off, and the smiles on the faces of all our pupils make it all worth it.

I’m incredibly grateful to the Friends of Lime Tree for all their amazing fundraising, which made this all possible.” 

Lime Tree Primary School is a two-form mixed entry school based in Merstham, Surrey. The school joined GLF Schools in September 2013 and has classes from Nursery to Year 6
